It was a long day for Ashley. Normally she loved work and never minded coming. It was the best she could do to keep her minds off of the stuff back at home that bothered her. Well, not bothered her. More like pissed her off. From what she could see, all the damn La Push brats were turning into wolves. Some a lot younger the Ash. She blamed her father for every bit of it. Her mother, Leah, was a werewolf but her father wasn't. She was stuck as a stupid human. She absolutely hated being human. As far as she was concerned, she had two ways out of being human. One of them was going to eventually happen, or Ash would take things into her own hands. She can't stand to sit on the sidelines.
Sitting at the counter all day was just aggravating today. It seemed like the people who came in today were needy. It was like those girls in the fancy stores who ask if they can have the next bigger size. By time you come back, the girl tells you nevermind saying that she'll just get it taken out a bit. Anything she can do to be wearing a size one even if she was far from it. Those kind of girls aggravated her. They weren't confident in their own skins. Back to Ash's day though. It was exactly like that. Only with hiking shoes and equipment. By time she brought something back, they'd decided that the one they were holding was best.
Now two hikers were busy chattering away, more like arguing in one of the aisles. Ash rolled her eyes before moving to the front counter and plopping a seat in the stool. It would be closing time soon enough and she would be one happy person. Well, not really. Soon as she got out of the hell hole, she'd probably go yell at the nearest stranger. That was Ash for you though. Ash looked at the orange vest that had to wear mandatory at the store before shrugging it off. They were required to wear it all the time but when the Newton's weren't around, she'd take it off. None of the customers had yet to complain so no big deal.

Jaslene pushed open the door to the only store worth while in the stupid town of Forks. Newton’s Outfitter. It had anything and everything any outdoorsman could ever want. So of course, it was just up Jaslene’s alley. Since she, much to her dismay, had yet to be changed into a wolf, she was forced to spend all her time outdoors as a regular human girl. Which without the thick fur and tough paws, meant she needed equipment.
She turned down the first aisle and just started browsing. She wasn’t really there for anything in particular, just looking. It was a random Saturday morning, and the truth was, she was plain out bored. So why not head down to Newton’s and see if they had anything good on sale? She came across a nicely decorated sale on thermal jackets. They looked really warm, good for the avid winter hiker, but not Jaslene. Sure she loved hiking and outdoors, but looking good was still a somewhat high priority, and qute frankly, the jackets were hideous. Laughing quietly to herself, Jaslene continued down the aisle, imagining different people wearing that jacket. Her own little entertainment.
It was about a half hour later and Jaslene was already bored of the store. She been down every aisle too many times already. But there was still quite a few new things that had amused her. She hadn’t been there in a couple of months, and Newtons did a good job of keeping up with the newest equipment. She had picked out a new pair of hiking boots, for her old ones were getting kind of shabby and was ready to go. Dreading wearing those boots for the first time, Jaslene thought about the large blisters her old boots had given her when she was breaking those in.
She plopped her boots onto the counter, were a very bored looking teenager sat behind. She looked familiar, but Jas couldn’t put her finger on where she’d seen her before. The truth was, Jaslene just simply knew too many people. She really hoped it wasn’t someone she should know, like her cousin or something. But the girl didn’t really have any resemblance to Jaslene Marquee. “Uhh, Hi..” She said a little lamely before pushing the boots closer to the girl, hinting to ring her up.

Sometimes it was hard not to yawn when working at Newton's. It just came. Especially if you worked in the morning or late at night. Ashley would take her bed at that moment in time instead of working. She was really tired. If somebody else was working with her, she would've said she was sick and go home but she was alone until one or two.
Ashley heard something plop on the counter behind her. Ashley turned around to find a girl a little younger then her standing there. She definitely recognized the girl, she just didn't know from where. To avoid staring to figure it out, she looked to what plopped on the counter. Some hiking boots. Ouch, those were gonna make her feet hurt.
“Uhh, Hi..”
Nice conversation starter,
[/i] Ashley thought to herself as she was hinted to ring up the boots. Ashley grabbed the boots, really feeling the need for sleep and scanned the bar code over the scanner. She placed them down for one second and looked back to the girl. "Wait a minute... do you live down in La Push?" she asked, looking at the girl quizzically. Ashley knew she used to live down there but she had to move away to get away from all the dogs, or werewolves, or shapeshifters, if you want to get proper. The girl looked quite bored, or maybe just sleepy as she rang up Jaslene's single item. This annoyed Jaslene slightly, it wasn't very good costumer service if you were falling asleep on the job. But then again, she couldn't blame her, this job would be boring, and she would probably do the same.
Just as Jaslene was pulling out her wallet from her oversized handbag, the girl said, "Wait a minute.... don't you live down in LaPush?" Looking up from her bag, Jaslene gave the girl a quizzical look.
"Uhh yeah... you..." Jaslene muttered trying to place the girl, "You don't." She decided. Jaslene knew everyone who lived down in LaPush. It wasn't really a very big town to begin with. But still, this girl was familiar.
"My names Jaslene by the way," Jaslene said conversationally, "Jaslene Marquee."
[OOC; sorry for the extreme shortness. No muse :S]

"You don't."
She huffed when she heard that. This girl obviously had no clue who she was but Ashley was starting to remember who the girl was. "Actually, I used to," she pointed out. She had finally got fed up with all the shapeshifters in La Push. It had seemed like everyone she had talked to had become one. She gave up on that real quick and moved away from La Push.
"Jaslene Marquee."
Her eyes widened when she heard that. Ashley knew exactly who she was. "Now I know who you are," she said excitedly, "We used to play around when we were littler." For once, Ashley didn't feel asleep at the job, or bored. Some excitement finally. "Oh, I'm Ashley Clearwater by the way," she added, hoping that maybe her name would make Jaslene remember her. They used to be best friends.
The excitement slowed down though. She had to know one thing, and one thing only. This would be the decider for if she would still like Jaslene. "You've heard the stories, right?" she asked in a whisper, not wanting anybody to hear, "Are you one of them? You know, the dogs?" She had to whisper the whole time, it was a La Push secret or whatever. Ashley used to call them shapeshifters but when she found out she probably wasn't going to be one, she started calling them mutts and dogs.

"Actually, I used to," The girl explained. Jaslene grinned. The girl definitely looked like the LaPush kind.
“Why’d you move?” Jaslene looked her over, the girl looked about the same age as Jaslene, maybe a little older. It was strange. Most people who live in LaPush never leave. It was like a trap. Basically because LaPush was such a good community. There was never any trouble down on the reserve, probably because of the presence of several giant wolves working for the common good.
"Now I know who you are," she said excitedly, total recognition in her voice, "We used to play around when we were littler." Jaslene squinted her eyes at her, as if that would help her place the girl. It didn’t. But Jaslene didn’t really have the best of memories, besides the girl in front of her hardly looked like a small child she might recognize. "Oh, I'm Ashley Clearwater by the way," The girl informed her. Ashley Clearwater. Ashley. Clearwater.
“ASHY!” Jaslene said a little too loudly, calling her by her old childhood nickname for her. Sure she hadn’t seen her in about 10 years, but that was the point. SHE HADN’T SEEN HER IN TEN YEARS.
The excitement kind of died then. "You've heard the stories, right?" Ashley asked in a whisper, not wanting anybody to hear, "Are you one of them? You know, the dogs?" Jaslene’s excited face fell.
“No.” She said grudgingly. Stupid wolves. They ruined EVERYTHING. “You are.” She accused and then she pulled her boots off the counter, ready to leave. She didn’t want to be around Ashley if all she could talk about was being a stupid wolf.
